A downloadable game

CurseBound was the final project for an interdisciplinary, ten-person team at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE). The project was approximately 18 weeks long and was finished on July 7, 2021. 

CurseBound is a hack-and-slash adventure in spooky, dark ruins! The player takes the role of an adventurer who who stumbled across these ruins and is unable to leave until they break the curse.

In this project, I was part of a lean team of interdisciplinary specialists. We each had a diverse set of responsibilities, and these were some of mine:

  • Systems Designer: I worked with the programmers to make sure all systems we create are compatible with one another. This also involved balancing the game.
  • Backup Programmer: This game required many systems. We had two, dedicated programers working on the core programming tasks. I handled less central jobs like creating: the save system, a randomized room decoration system, the interactable object systems, and more.
  • Bug Hunter: There are many things that can go wrong in any given part of a video game. Finding and fixing these issues was one of my primarily responsibilities.
  • Level Designer: Using the randomized room decoration system I created, I developed many interesting battlefields for the player to wander through.
